We recently spoke with Jon Mack to discuss her career as an actress, model, and musician. Along with starring in Saw 6, which hits theatres in October, Jon (pronounced z-ahn) will also be appearing in two movies for the Sy-Fy channel in 2010. Her band, Auradrone, released their debut album Whitelite Britelite earlier this year, which is available through CDbaby.com and Amazon.com.

TH: I hear that you're going to be in Saw 6. What can you tell us about the film?

JM: I can't talk too much about Saw 6 as far as the plot goes, but it's going to be pretty exciting. There will be a lot of new twists and turns, of course. I don't know if you're a fan of the franchise, but it's always interesting because they bring back beloved characters. There will be a lot of surprises and I'm really honored to be a part of it. I've been a fan of the series for a while.

TH: So be honest, do you get creeped out when the Saw puppet says "I want to play a game"?

JM: (laughs) Funny story, I was actually in Makeup one morning and the puppet was in the chair next to me, which is kind of ironic. But it was just really funny because he was literally in the chair next to me and the hairdresser said she doesn't like to be in the room alone with the puppet. So I think everyone, including the crew, is still a little bit creeped out by that guy.

TH: It sounds like you had a good time filming the movie.

JM: I had a great time, yeah. I actually felt like I was part of the Saw family. Everyone was very welcoming, professional, and kind. You can tell that they've been doing it a while; after six films they've got it pretty wrapped up.

TH: And of course you're a musician, model, and an actress. Which do you enjoy more: performing a song on stage, or being in front of the camera?

JM: Oh gosh, they're so different. It's hard to say because they're two different facets. I love them both. I love making the music because it comes from me. So it's my expression. But at the same time I love acting because I can jump into another world and be a completely different person. The thing that I love about acting is that it feels like, while you're shooting the film, you're a part of a family and part of a team. Everyone bonds together, so you meet some really great people. It's a unique experience that I don't think that any other job really has.

TH: Do you have a favorite genre to act in? I know that you've done Sci-Fi and Horror, but do you prefer one over the others?

JM: I'm just getting into the Horror thing, and it's a lot of fun. I didn't realize it'd be this much fun, but with all the prosthetics it's like playing dress-up for Halloween. It's like being a kid again. And I'm a huge fan of Sci-Fi films in general. So any Sci-Fi film that I can be in, I love it.

I would also like to get into some Indie character-driven, kind of quirky films. I'm always a fan of that, too.

TH: We were speaking about your music a little bit, how would you describe the music of your band Auradrone?

JM: It's like a hybrid of electronica, alternative/post-modern rock. It's definitely a hybrid, it's not one or the other. It's similar to bands like Garbage, a little bit Nine Inch Nails, and Blondie. There are some different elements to it, for sure.

TH: You mentioned in the past that your album, Whitelite Britelite, took nearly three years to complete. What was the production process like for that album?

JM: It was a big learning curve. It was amazing because I grew a lot in the process. I had a lot of people collaborating with me, but I pretty much championed it on my own. At the same time that I was making the record, I was learning how to use the equipment and gear, and how to become an engineer in a sense using Pro Tools and a lot of other programs. It was both writing music, but also learning what works and what doesn't work. I still have a long way to go, but it was kind of neat because I got to finish it and it was an achievement in that sense.
