Interview with Tania Gunadi star of Disney's Aaron Stone

TH: I read recently that someone got you a cute pair of earrings recently, which is great, but the not so great part is that your ears aren't pierced. That sounds like kind of an awkward situation, how were you able to smooth things out with that?

TG: It didn't go well (laughs). I really liked this person so I kind of lied about it. I was like "I really like it" so he said, "Why don't you wear them?" and I'm like, "Well, they didn't match the outfit." But after a while I told him I was sorry but my ears aren't pierced, and he wanted to know why I didn't tell him from the beginning and why did I lie. I'm like, "Oh my God, it's just earrings and you're making a big deal out of it." Like all of a sudden I'm a liar.

I thought it was a cute thing. Yeah, I think it's okay.

TH: It was a nice thought, but ultimately not something wearable for you.

TG: Yes, I think it's good. I actually gave them away. Oh well.

TH: I also read that you're a fan of Jesse McCartney.

TG: Oh, he's so cute. I didn't even know that I was a big fan of his until the concert a few weeks ago. I didn't know he was that cute. I think the last time I saw him he was a teenager, and now he's 22 and is really cute.

I'm going to assume that you didn't go to the concert, but he was very mature; you know, good-looking and he's so passionate. He was so nice. He went to visit the City of Hope kids and spent time with the cancer patients. I was very touched by that event. It makes him even hotter when he's a nice person as well.

TH: I've read that you're a fan of Rock Band and Guitar Hero, and that you're a talented drummer in both real life and I guess you could say semi-real life with video games.

TG: I'm not very talented in the drumming aspect of Guitar Hero. Maybe with the Medium setting, I can't do the Hard level yet.

TH: Yeah, I can never quite get the kick pedal right.

TG: Yeah and those colors, I feel like I'm color blind when I play. Like what's going on here. The guitar is better, I think I like the guitar better now.

TH: Speaking of the guitar, what are some of your favorite songs to jam out to on the guitar?

TG: You're going to think I'm crazy. "La Bamba," Michael Jackson's "Beat It," and the Eagles' "Hotel California."

TH: As far as personal trivia about yourself, what might be another piece of trivia that fans would be interested to learn about you?

TG: Let's see, that I love cats, that's one. That I will be a "cat lady" one day. (laughs) When I buy pet supplies I always imagine myself one day moving to a big house and I'd like to have two cats, two bunnies, two dogs, two little guinea pigs, and two birds.

TH: That's a little personal Noah's ark there.

TG: Is that scary?

TH: No, that's very cool. It's obvious you love animals, and the bunnies would always have a buddy as well so that's good. You don't want a lonely bunny.

TG: Although, I'll only have one boyfriend.

TH: That's probably a good idea. Eventually only one husband, right?

TG: Right. One of each. Just kidding.

Another piece of trivia is I don't like to wear makeup.

TH: Before you worked on Aaron Stone, you guest starred on shows like Boston Public, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Even Stevens. Scanning through your list of roles, I was most amused by your title of Voodoo Disco Queen in the 2003 film Nudity Required.

TG: That's a cute one, it's an independent film.

TH: What a great role name, that's a tough one to top.

TG: That is funny.

TH: Speaking of films, I read that you're interested in perhaps writing a piece with your friends.

TG: We did already.

TH: Did you? Can you tell us more about that?

TG: We basically finished shooting two weeks before I left for season two of Aaron Stone. It's really cool.

The last two years I've had a group of friends who have helped me a lot with my auditioning. Every time I have an audition I always get together with someone from my group of friends. Someone will always come to my house, or I go to their house, and they run through the scenes with me, and coach me basically. So I always told myself that I really want to repay their kindness, and I wanted to make a movie with two of them specifically as a lead. I was able to do that for one of my friends now.

It was going to be a low-budget thing, and it's still low-budget, but guess what; I did a student film with this guy from USC when I was first starting out eight years ago and this director hired me twice in student films and now he's the DP [Director of Photography] of FlashForward, and before that he was a DP for CSI. And he did my short film for basically no money at all, and he hooked me up with his crew and all his friends. So now the movie will be really good; really high quality with really awesome camera work and we have great lighting, so it's not like a small low-budget film anymore. Even though the budget stayed the same, we were able to get high quality in it.

We're actually one month early in finishing it and I think we would love to show it to people the first part of January.

TH: How would you describe the film?

TG: The movie itself is basically about a musician whose girlfriend asks him to choose between his love for her and his love for music. The movie's title is Unconditionally.

TH: We end all interviews with word association, and since you're an animal lover you might enjoy this one quite a bit. I say "wombat" and you say...

TG: Hot cat (as in Jesse McCartney hot, not like a warm type of hot).
