7 Horrible Places to Propose Print

You complete me...

1) At McDonald's - Let's face it, any fast food establishment is a total no-no when it comes to proposing marriage, but McDonald's is the ultimate no-no since your potential bride-to-be could ask you to "super size it" after seeing the size of the diamond on the ring (assuming that you actually dished out enough for a diamond, considering you are proposing at a McDonald's).

2) In a Car - Proposing in a car creates certain obvious challenges. First, you can't get down on one knee to propose; at least, not very easily. Second, if you happen to be driving, you're setting yourself up for a potential accident - since if she says "yes" she will probably want to give you a hug or kiss (hopefully), which would likely distract you from paying attention to the road, or, if she says "no" you may want to drive off the road on purpose.

3) With Family - Whether it's around your family or hers, there's nothing like having the added pressure of family around to make an important life-choice all the more stressful. Plus, if she says "no" (or wants to say "no") you now have an awkward situation with family around.

4) At a Wedding - Let's say that you're with your significant other while at a friend's wedding and you get caught up in the splendor of marriage. Maybe you've been waiting for just the right time to pop the question. Well, this isn't it. While you may get a "yes" to your question, you will undoubtedly draw the ire of the newlyweds for stealing the spotlight at their wedding.

5) On the JumboTron - As a sports spectator, I love the wedding proposals on the JumboTron, but that still doesn't make it a good choice when it comes to picking your proposal spot. First, your girlfriend may feel added pressure to say "yes" just to placate the fans in attendance. Second, if she says "no" you now have to sit through the rest of the game with 40,000 plus fans knowing that you just got rejected (or you could leave the game early, as you probably should at that point). Third, you have got to be sure that your girlfriend will be looking at the JumboTron at just the right time. What if she needs to use the restroom before your message is supposed to play? What if she just stepped away to make a phone call? I'm sure you could come up with a story on why she should stay, but without letting the cat out of the bag how are you going to make sure she sees it?

6) At a Bar - I'm sure there are some nice bars that you could propose at. Maybe you both met in this special bar and you want to go back to where you first met to propose. But, except for the extremely rare occasion where it makes sense to do so, you should avoid proposing in a bar (especially if it's a place that is often referred to as a "dive"). You need to remember that when she goes into work the next day, or is telling her girlfriends and family about the proposal, they're going to ask her where you popped the question. She's going to want to have a romantic story to share, and informing her friends that you asked her at a bar is not going to cut it.

7) In Bed - I can already hear how this proposal would sound, "So, you wanna get married?" Just because you may have romanced her earlier in the evening doesn't mean that proposing marriage while in bed is a romantic idea.
